Fedora Core 3, nvidia, and upgrades

So, on monday FC3 was released, jhb’s machine was upgraded monday night, my workstation tuesday, lappy last night. Only leaves 2 more machines to go FC3 before the end of the weekend (yes, I really really just want to get it done =). Tonight maybe the ldap/dhcp server and this weekend the main server.

FC3 so far has been really good. jhb had problems with sata (her root disk is sata and it failed to add the scsi_hostadapter lines in /etc/modprobe.conf. Added the 2 lines and rebuilt the initrd file, worked like a charm!

There’s also a new nvidia driver out (1.0-6629) and it works excellent so far with the default Fedora Core 3 kernel. No problems yet with NWN or movie viewing. Well, no problems with display at least…

Movie viewing I have to rebuild mplayer (again) . First time out, build ffmpeg, install newest codecs, newest pre5 mplayer and everything is good except, windows media doesn’t play right… More on this at a later date. I’ll post the results as well.
