5km run, a little bike and a little abs

37 minutes total.

5km run was 25m 10s which would be great to carry out to 10km, but on the track 10km might really suck.

5.3km run

Ok, really I’m going to try to remember to log all the workouts here.

Today, 5.3km run. Path was from the rec entrance, north then east to Richard road, north on Crowchild to Richmond Road, west to 29th St., south to Richardson Way then cut across the parking lot and over to the top-centre of the amphitheatre above the pond. Total time 27:02 including stopping for a traffic light.

Snowboarding with…

jhb!

For the first time since she was preggers with Jonah we were able to go boarding together today. Since she wasn’t working, I wasn’t working, and little J was in daycare we went west and got a few runs in. She’s getting good too. We had lunch in the rather cramped lodge (a lot of people out today) and put a few runs in then drove home again. Long drive, well worth it.

Any time we get to spend time boarding together it’s great!

Inagural Ride

For my Christmas present jhb bought me a new snowboard which is exactly what I asked for. We’ve been riding now since March of 2004 and I bought the board I had, second hand from a pawn shop 2 years ago. I did about 25 days that year, about 20 days last year and now that board has more gouges and gashes than Van Gogh’s ear.

So she let me take the pick of a few different boards, all in the mid-range and I picked out a K2 Select Wide.

On Saturday Connor and I woke up early, and drove the 1.5 hours to Sunshine (the closest decent hill is where we have our passes) and I took it for it’s first outing in the snow.

Now, I have to say coming from a 156 narrow to this thing is a big change. I’m having a bit of trouble in the switch ride department but it is more stable, which helps me to be faster, it’s more difficult (at least at this point) in the deeper snow but I think that too will be just a transition thing. I have really noticed the stability though, wow. Smoking along, you can hit a bit of a drop and catch some air without worrying about wiping out, as long as you can stay standing up :).

We’re hoping to get out again on the 27th, hopefully that comes together, then again maybe on the 31st or on the 1st. The more time on the hill the better =).

First bike ride at the res. this year.

The pathways down by the sailing club are closed, so I went from home to the sailing club then back today instead of going all the way around as planned. For the first ride of the year, it was a great morning to do it.

Work Rides

Finally I get to go for a ride.  Life has been so crazy lately (home and work colliding with force enough to cause the two to sublimate in my mind, the mixed gasses blending to form a blur about 4 weeks long) that I haven’t had time and energy at the same moment enough to go for a ride.  Thursday I finished the last of my listed important stuff at work which means I am now free when baby comes.  Due to a 36 hour long stretch I decided to take Friday off and managed to get about 11 hours sleep.  Last night, almost the same and today I finally feel human.

So given all this I need to first dump the past 5 weeks of bike info then I am ready!
Total Time 3:35.18
Total Distance 83.44 km
Average Cadence 80 rpm
Average Speed 23.2 km/h
Odo 325 km (from 242 km)

One day, three rides!

This morning I rode to work (as I always try to) but this afternoon I rode from work, around the reservoir and home.  I got to try out my new MEC shirt (red, short sleeved bike shirt) and that worked really well, much cooler.

Then tonight after I got home, my youngest son asked if I wanted to go with him for a short ride and of course, I had to say yes!

Around the res:
Total Time 0:50:54
Total Distance 20.34 km
Average Cadence 84 rpm
Average Speed 23.9 km/h
Odo 236 km (from 215 km)
Max Cadence 108 rpm
Max Speed 47 km/h

Short ride after I got home:
Total Time 0:18:35
Total Distance 5.84 km
Average Cadence 75 rpm
Average Speed 18.8 km/h
Odo 242 km (from 236 km)
Max Cadence 125 rpm
Max Speed 36 km/h

It’s been a good couple of days for riding, and I would like to keep getting at least 3 rides in each week from now until the end of September.
